What’s good for business is not necessarily good for the Filipino people — majority of whom belong to the impoverished class. Thus, when Noynoy Aquino delivered a speech before the elite Makati businessmen, who like to portray themselves as politically influential — which is doubted — he, the politician that is fed political advice by politicians, pledged that under his presidency, there will be no new taxes levied. That, as business knew, was an impossibility, given the huge deficit incurrred, and the mounting interests in the country’s debt. That pledge, everyone knows, would be broken almost immediately — should Noynoy win the presidency, which should show up his hypocrisy and his penchant for breaking promises made — just as the pledges made by his late mother were also broken — almost immediately, upon ascending to power and position.....
