Meralco treasurer Rafael Andrada projects a probable 30 percent increase of Meralco income for 2010. The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) granted Meralco a two-step increase for 2010. With the Pangilinan group taking control of Meralco from the Lopezes, the ERC appears to be very sympathetic to Meralco petitions for rate increases, giving rise to speculation that GMA is now a silent partner of Manny Pangilinan in the Meralco.

Remember that GSIS president Winston Garcia tried to take control of Meralco, then gave way to Pangilinan....


Congressional bets. In Barangay Manresa, QC, President Erap proclaimed Rep. Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo as his candidate for congressman in the 1st district of Quezon City. Similarly, he raised the hands of Councilor Allan Francisco as his candidate for congressman for the 2nd district of Quezon City.
