Aussies fear a WWIII

I received an e-mail from an old friend, Michael Billington, one of the stalwarts of the worldwide LaRouche Movement with headquarters in Lesburg, Virginia and with associates all over the globe.

The LaRouche Movement is noted for its prediction of the collapse of the current global “casino” financial and economic system which it controversially asserted to be centered in the City of London. The latest Libor fixing scandal involving Barclays Bank and, based on the statements of Barclays’ deposed chief Bobby Diamond, involving the Bank of England’s complicity in all the illegal manipulations by Barclays and all the other major Western global banks confirms this. The LaRouche Movement is notable also for its for its geopolitical insight, and for decades now it has been warning the World that the Western financial-economic and oligarchic powers need a major war to “fix” its doomed economies.

Six months after Obama’s “pivot” and “rebalancing” of US military forces to the Asia-Pacific, Gabrielle Peut, Aaron Isherwood and Allen Douglas reports in The New Citizen, newspaper of the LaRouche Australia: “Australia is deep into preparations for a British-directed, Obama-led, nuclear world war against Russia and China. Indeed, our nation is a key chess piece in that war. Should such a war unfold, we will be hit by Chinese nuclear weapons, and perhaps by Russian ones as well. This reality was the subject of a secret chapter in Australia’s 2009 Defense White Paper, which envisaged an armed showdown initiated by the USA and Australia against China, beginning with Australian submarines blockading China’s sea lanes, followed by China’s hitting the Pine Gap radar installation… The Australian (newspaper) of June 2 summarized, ‘A secret chapter in the Rudd government’s 2009 Defense White Paper detailed a plan to fight a war with China, in which the navy’s submarines would help blockade its trade routes, and raised the prospect of China firing missiles at targets in Australia in retaliation.’”

There are at least 10 top secret American facilities in Australia, the “Joint Defense Space Research Facility” at Pine Gap outside Alice Springs, NT, is the most important. It was to control and act as a downlink for geosynchronous satellites stationed over the Pacific and Asia. The agencies involved are the CIA, NSA and the NRO.
There were other reasons now for the base which have never been fully revealed. The Pine Gap is situated where it is in proximity to the Pacific and Indian Oceans and Asia, it’s Southern hemispheric window to outer space, it’s position on the earth’s surface in relation to other important areas situated on the planet, its isolation and the fact it is situated in an area of low electromagnetic radiation. Construction of the base was undertaken by American contractors and no Australians were involved. Pine Gap is obviously a radar monitoring station and in the event of a missile exchange, would have to be blinded by adversaries at the onset of a strike.

People must be made aware that “War is a Racket,” as US Gen. Samuel Butler write in his 1935 book of the same name. Prof. Vyacheslav Dashichev writes in “The Impending Dangers of a Global Conflict: How to Prevent World War III; The Lessons of History” who investigated and found  seven factors for World War II:
1) The actions of the expanding German empire to obtain regional and then global domination and to gain control of the resources and markets;
2) The expansionist German Reich wanted to achieve military superiority by massive rearmament;
3) The goal of the German Reich was to upset the balance of power in the world arena by defeating small and medium-sized countries;
4) Merging the countries into a coalition;
5) Within the innermost circle of the power elite in an expansionist state a power structure comes into being;
6) The expansionist state seeks to resist the economic and systemic crisis of capitalism. The solution is to go to war;
7) Propaganda is used to systematically implant the notion of an enemy in the minds of the population.
Dashichev sees the same today:

1) The US is clearly an expanding state; 2) … to achieve and maintain world domination … unprecedented American expansion of military force; 3) The US has set … to decisively reset the balance of power worldwide to its advantage; 4) The American policy of dominance has generated strong anti-American sentiments around the world; 5) In the United States a small secret inner circle decides over war and peace.
To it belong some of the richest families; 6) We are now faced with finding a way out of the largest financial, economic and moral crisis since 1929/33; 7) As far as propaganda, psychological control … and the creation of enemy stereotypes … the US power elites have surpassed all previous records.

Dashichev ends: “Historical experience shows that those who sought to dominate Europe and the world always encountered a fiasco. The same fate awaits the initiators and perpetrators who build the American world empire. What is important is to prevent a new world war being unleashed.”

Are we contributing with our rhetoric to the war plans of the Western oligarchs or are we going to be, like the Australian Larouche activists, peace-builders for our children and their children?

Engaging China, Noy’s way

Engaging China, Noy’s way

There might be no way to say it but Noynoy with the moves he had taken recently appears convinced that China is part of the remnants of the crooked past which is how he depicts the previous administration of Mrs. Arroyo and all those associated with her.

It is a clear fixation, similar to the dogged determination of former President Corazon Aquino, Noynoy’s mother, to eradicate the marks of the 20-year presidency of Ferdinand Marcos from the history books, bad traits and achievements included.
Nearly all of the Chinese contracts signed during Gloria’s term has either been rescinded or placed under review while the policy to engage China constructively has been set aside in favor of a hardline position particularly on territorial disputes which Noynoy clearly cannot sustain..... MORE

Russia, China veto western-backed Syria resolution at UN Security Council

Russia and China have vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution that threatened Syria with more sanctions.

It was the third time in nine months that Russia and China used their powers as permanent members of the 15-nation council to block resolutions on Syria. There were 11 votes in favor of the resolution. Russia and China voted against it, while South Africa and Pakistan abstained from voting.

Addressing the council, Russian Representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin accused the Western members of the UNSC of attempting to "fan the flames of confrontation in the Security Council.".... MORE

Over a third of Fukushima children at risk of developing cancer

Over a third of Fukushima children at risk of developing cancer

Over a third of children in Japan's Fukushima region could be prone to cancer if medics don’t apply more effort in treating their unusually overgrown thyroid glands and commit to international health aid and consultations, according to a new report.

The shocking new report shows that nearly 36 per cent of children in the nuclear disaster-affected Fukushima Prefecture have abnormal thyroid growths. This is an extremely large number of abnormalities – some of which, experts say, pose a risk of becoming cancerous.

After examining more than 38,000 children from the area, medics found that more than 13,000 have cysts or nodules as large as 5 millimeters on their thyroids, the Sixth Report of Fukushima Prefecture Health Management Survey states..... MORE

Justice and the ‘Lazarus franchises’ Written by Jonathan de la Cruz

Justice and the ‘Lazarus franchises’

Two weeks ago we guested in our regular Saturday Forum at Annabel’s the officials of the two employees association of the defunct Pantranco North Express Inc (PNEI), namely, Pantranco Employees Association (PEA) and Pantranco  Retrenched Employees Inc. (PANREA), who are now in the middle of a tug-of-war over the sale (others said deed of assignment) of what they claim as “valid and existing” 489 franchises covering various lines in Luzon they won in a sheriff’s auction to satisfy the compensation claims which the NLRC and subsequently the Supreme Court (SC) awarded to them after years of litigation.

This sale was opposed by various bus operators on two grounds: a) the subject franchises have long been expired and beyond resurrection (thus the term “Lazarus franchises”) and b) the revalidation and subsequent sale of the franchises to five companies belonging to the Hernandez family of Victory Liner fame was done with indecent haste..... Political arrests under Aquino rising at alarming rate

Political arrests under Aquino rising at alarming rate

Not only does the Aquino government remain deaf to calls for the freedom of all political prisoners, it has continued the practice of detaining political dissenters.
By RONALYN V. OLEA
Bulatlat.com

MANILA – The number of political prisoners under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III is fast approximating that of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s.

According to human rights group Karapatan, 107 of the 385 political prisoners were arrested under the two-year administration of Aquino. The group also documented 222 cases of illegal arrest without detention from June 2010 until June 30 this year.

This Monday July 16, political prisoners in ten detention facilities from Luzon to Mindanao began their one-week fasting to push the call for the release of all political prisoners. Some of the political prisoners would stage a hunger strike from July 20 until July 23, in time for Aquino’s third State of the Nation Address (Sona).

“It has been two years since we started to campaign and lobby for the release of political prisoners who are in various jails, but President Noynoy Aquino not only ignored our call but also arrested and detained 107 more farmers, indigenous peoples, leaders of organizations and activists, as well as suspected rebels,” said Marie Hilao-Enriquez, chairwoman of both Karapatan and Samahan ng Ex-Detainees Laban sa Detensyon at Aresto (Selda).

Enriquez said Aquino “cannot go on pretending that there are no political prisoners in the country because he is already responsible for detaining 107 activists based mostly on fabricated charges in the same way as Gloria did through the brutal Oplan Bantay Laya.” Oplan Bantay Laya is the counterinsurgency program implemented by the Arroyo administration.

During the nine-year reign of Arroyo, Karapatan documented 343 political prisoners arrested and detained.
Malacañang officials repeatedly denied the existence of political prisoners in the country. Based on Karapatan’s monitoring, 84 percent of political prisoners have been charged with common crimes while only four percent have been charged with rebellion. The rest are facing rebellion plus criminal charges.

Angie Ipong, Selda secretary general, said such practice “aims to portray political prisoners as common criminals and to prolong their detention.”

Data from Karapatan
Ipong herself was charged with heinous, non-bailable crimes such as double murder and frustrated murder. It took six years, after all the cases were dismissed before she was released.

“Aquino just continued Arroyo’s Oplan Bantay Laya tactics under the new Oplan Bayanihan to file trumped-up charges against political activists because the government wanted to quell dissent.” Ipong said, referring to the administrations counterinsurgency program.

Mostly peasants

Majority of political prisoners are farmers who are fighting for their right to land, said Ipong.

In a separate statement, Anakpawis Rep. Rafael Mariano said “there is a rising trend of criminalization of land disputes wherein farmers who fight against land grabbing and land conversion are charged with common crimes.”.... MORE

Come up with proof on killings, military dares int’l rights group Written by Mario J. Mallari Friday, 20 July 2012 00:00 f

Come up with proof on killings, military dares int’l rights group

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) yesterday challenged the Human Rights Watch (HRW) to back up its claims with evidence that paramilitary forces with links to the military were behind the killings of anti-mining activists in the country.

AFP spokesman Col. Arnulfo Marcelo Burgos Jr. stressed the military is open for any investigation in connection with the alleged involvement of its troops in the extra-judicial killings of activists as alleged by the New York-based HRW.

“That claim has to be supported with pieces of evidence. The AFP has been open in terms of investigation. We will cooperate with investigating agencies,” he said.

“If they have complaint, file it to proper venue. When it comes to investigation, we will cooperate… if it is an ongoing case, the AFP has nothing to do with it. (But) whenever we’re asked to submit personnel for questioning, we will do that,” Burgos added..... MORE

Vizconde joins clamor vs Carpio’s CJ bid Written by Benjamin B. Pulta Friday, 20 July 2012 00:00

Vizconde joins clamor vs Carpio’s CJ bid

For allegedly trying to influence the outcome of the celebrated Vizconde massacre case, anti-crime advocate Lauro Vizconde formally opposed acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio’s bid to become the next chief justice.

Vizconde reiterated his earlier claim that Carpio lobbied other magistrates to acquit Hubert Webb and six others previously convicted for the mas-sacre of Vizconde’s family.

In his three-page opposition  filed before the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), Vizconde questioned the integrity and independence of Carpio should he be chosen as the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

He also claimed that the acting SC chief justice “exhibited his tendencies to submit to corruption and to entertain biases to serve his own personal interest and the interest of those close to him.”

“I am respectfully submitting my vehement objection to the nomination and appointment of Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, as he is wanting in, and has not proven his possession of the qualities of integrity, probity and independence,” Vizconde said in a three-page opposition filed with the Judicial and Bar Council. Vizconde recounted how Justice Carpio allegedly acted as the point man in marshaling efforts to secure the acquittal of Webb as early as the time when the case was still under review before the Court of Appeals..... Asean near consensus on sea spat — Jakarta

Asean near consensus on sea spat — Jakarta

PHNOM PENH — Southeast Asian nations are “on the cusp” of agreeing a statement of unity on the South China Sea dispute, Indonesia’s top diplomat yesterday said after meeting his Cambodian counterpart.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa has taken on the role of mediator after the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) failed to reach a common position on the row at a gathering in Phnom Penh last week.

“Despite suggestions to the contrary, in actual fact Asean remains united,” Natalegawa told reporters in the Cambodian capital, on the third leg of a regional peacemaking tour after visiting Hanoi and Manila last Wednesday.

Natalegawa said he was working to identify “basic Asean positions on the South China Sea” which would dispel the perception that the 10-member group is divided.

“We are now on the cusp of formalizing this consensus,” Natalegawa said. Cambodian Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, whose country holds the rotating Asean chairmanship, told reporters he hoped to announce the bloc’s joint position on Friday, pending “approval from all Asean foreign ministers.”.... In Navotas City it’s the mayor who will announce suspension of classes

Following confusion in the past which caught students and school personnel flat-footed, the Navotas City government has come up with clear-cut measures with Mayor John Rey Tiangco who will order the cancellation of classes during bad weather condition.

Tiangco, the Tribune was told, called a meeting recently with concerned city and local school officials held at the City Hall Complex where they formulated policies and protocols which they will implement to put things in proper perspective.

He said the school principals and barangay captains shall coordinate with each other as early as 10 p.m. immediately after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) announces a possible bad weather condition..... MORE
