18-year-old girl gets life over illegal drug trade
By Gina Peralta-Elorde 03/01/2012An 18-year-old girl was sentenced to life imprisonment for violating the anti-drug law she knowingly committed when she was still a minor two years ago.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Undersecretary Jose S. Gutierrez Jr. said that “Nene,” not her real name, was considered as a “Child In Conflict with Law” (CICL) since she was a minor when the crime was committed.
He added that Nene was released on recognizance to her mother pursuant to Section 35 of Republic Act 9344, or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, while her case was being heard in court..... MORE
