Senate to probe worsening Mindanao power supply woes
03/25/2012The Senate has firmed up plans to hold an exhaustive inquiry into the Mindanao power situation even as the Palace and the Department of Energy (DoE) the other day indicated that measures are already in place to avert a supply crisis in the region.
Sen. Aquilino Pimentel III said he would seek a Senate inquiry to prevent what Mindanao businesses said were the possibility of brownouts of up to eight hours a day in the main island.
“The situation has worsened, particularly with the onset of summer. Mindanao now faces the grim prospect of longer outages of up to eight hours a day. Business is suffering badly and the residents are becoming impatient over the government’s slow response,” he said.... MORE
