Lawyers’ group praises [Enrile]
03/25/2012A group of lawyers has expressed satisfaction over the manner in which Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile is presiding over Chief Justice Renato Corona’s impeachment trial, believing the veteran lawmaker is demonstrating determination to promote fairness and due process in the hearings.
“From our observation, it seems the rule of law is always upheld during the trial — it’s properly articulated and protected,” former Ambassador Rey Parungao of the group Advocates for the Rule of Law yesterday told a news forum.
He cited such observation as the group lauded Enrile for “his steadfast and unwavering stand to defend the time-honored principles of fairness and equity and of due process.”.... MORE
