Neri set for arraignment today over tax evasion raps
02/08/2012The Court of Tax Appeals will arraign today former Social Security System (SSS) president Romulo Neri for tax evasion charges that the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) had filed against him in November last year.
Neri was implicated in the controversial ZTE broadband scam in which a witness before a Senate hearing on the deal attributed to him the phrase “moderate the greed” when he was still chairman of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda), which was supposedly meant to reduce the amount of kickbacks included in the $329-million contract for the setting up of an information technology network for the government.....
