Garcia expelled from PMA alumni
By Mario J. Mallari 02/09/2012An association of graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) finally terminated former military comptroller retired Maj. Gen. Carlos Garcia from its ranks, eight years after he was principally charged in the alleged massive corruption in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Brig. Gen. Remy Tigulo, chairman of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. (PMAAAI), cited the conviction of Garcia, of PMA Class of 1971, before the general court martial as approved by the commander in chief President Aquino on September last year as basis for his termination.
In the latest issue of The Cavalier, the official publication of the PMAAAI, Tigulo said the expulsion of Garcia was in “accordance with the association’s rules on membership which provides that a member who has been convicted with finality of a crime involving moral turpitude is subject to expulsion.”....
