Aquino starts hitting Erap

By Angie M. Rosales 03/16/2010 With former President Joseph Estrada’s rising numbers in the presidential race, and with his, falling rapidly, Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino yesterday zeroed in on Estrada on the subject of his plunder conviction and subsequent pardon granted by President Arroyo, saying he is against any grant of pardon to convicted criminals. The Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer yesterday said he was against Arroyo’s grant of executive cle-mency to Estra-da from his plunder case. “I do not agree with that (Arroyo’s pardon of Estrada.) I do not agree either with the pardon granted to those convicted of killing my father (former Sen. Benigno ‘Ninoy’ Aquino Jr.) and other pardons issued by the present administration (to other convicts), I do not agree with that,” he said during an interview in a morning television program. His father, however, was also convicted of murder during the martial law years under then President Ferdinand Marcos. He was still a murder convict when he was slain....
