Mr. New President, meet the IMF
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is doing its job in advance by reminding the next president to toe the line in subscribing to its periodic assessments and at the same time places emphasis on so-called revenue enhancement that does not preclude an increase in taxes. In terms of fiscal policies, the next administration would likely be tied down to the bidding of the IMF, despite the country having practically paid off all its obligations with the multilateral agency incurred during the critical period of the 1980s when the country was experiencing a political upheaval.
