Guilt by association? C.R.O.S.S.R.O.A.D.S Jonathan De la Cruz 02/17/2010 So, what’s wrong with being associated with a foundation providing medical and related assistance to indigents? This is the question being asked by my friend Benjie Ramos, an official of the ALC Group of Companies owned by our boss, Ambassador Tony Cabangon Chua, which includes our radio station dwIZ. There should be nothing wrong with that. But if that foundation is called the First Gentleman (FG) Foundation and you are at the same time associated with a media outfit and then, lately, a polling firm, it can be a source of intrigue. As in guilty without charge and sweeping at that. Indeed, it’s a pity that some of our friends, in media and elsewhere, probably without meaning to, are getting into inquisitorial territory as they parlay their messages on issues of national concern. I am particularly saddened by the bent of that otherwise objective report on the “power and pitfalls of surveys” written by veteran journalist Raissa Robles for Vera Files — the investigative reporting platform set up by our friends Ellen Tordesillas and Yvonne Chua, among others....
