Leaders recommend Asean chairmanship of Myanmar in 2014
By Michaela P. del Callar 11/17/2011BALI — Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) ministers yesterday recommended to the bloc’s leaders to approve Myanmar’s chairmanship of the Asean in 2014.
Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said the positive developments that have been taking place in the country over the past few months earned unanimous support from the ministers.
“There is consensus on Myanmar’s chairmanship in the Asean in 2014,” Natalegawa said. “The sense is overwhelming recognition and welcoming of the changes, the positive developments in Myanmar.”.... MORE
