Activists ‘ambush’ Clinton convoy
11/17/2011Protesters clashed with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s security detail near Malacañang yesterday, forcing her convoy to detour.
Local security men and at least one American jumped out with automatic rifles drawn after about 50 left-wing youth activists kicked their vehicles and hurled red paint at the cars, but no shots were fired, a witness said.
US Embassy spokesman Bettina Malone and Manila police both declined to comment on the confrontation, which the Agence France Presse photographer said occurred after Clinton called on President Aquino in Malacañang.

"t was also last week that the department issued a resolution denying the Arroyo family’s request to travel to seek medical treatment abroad.
"The department has placed the Arroyos in the immigration watch list in relation to the electoral sabotage charges filed against them, a move which was described by the Arroyo camp as illegal."
