Weigh Zaldy’s offer to reveal all in poll fraud, plunder — solon

Malacañang should exercise caution in imposing a blanket rejection on the offer to turn state witness of former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Gov. Zaldy Ampatuan, Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano yesterday said

“While I empathize with the feelings of the (Maguindanao massacre) victims, I think (Justice) Secretary Leila de Lima is right in saying that he cannot be considered as state witness in the case but it doesn’t mean that he cannot stand as witness in plunder, election fraud and everything else. Let’s not shoot down the messenger. Let’s not disbelieve the messenger. Let’s look at the message. What can he offer? And then let’s verify his information,” he said.

Malacañang last Thursday denied any talks for a possible deal with the former ARMM governor in turning himself into a state witness, even dismissing speculations that they are considering his offer to turn against his own family members who are the principal accused in the case..... MORE
