President Obama’s allies in the Democratic Party are pushing the approval of a law which would make life really tough for American firms that insist on “outsourcing” their call center operations.

Many may not be aware of it, but if the legislative measure — House Bill No. 3596 or the “Call Center and Consumers Protection Bill” filed last Dec. 7, 2011 by Representatives Tim Bishop (Democrat, New York), Mike Michaud (Democrat, Texas) and David Mckinley (Republican, West Virginia) — is passed by the US Congress, it would necessarily impact negatively on the Philippines’ burgeoning call center industry which in 2011 provided jobs for some 600, 000 workers and generated revenues amounting to some $8 billion. And what’s electric is that it is expected to grow at a 20-percent rate for the next five years.

Said industry is ranked second only to the overseas Filipino worker sector which accounted for about $14 billion in foreign exchange remittances for the same period..... MORE

malapit nang mawala ng trabaho ang mga call center agents natin, salamat sa kasing.halimaw.ni.bush.jr. na si obama....no brainer, really but for the zzzzzzzzzzzzombies out here, unfathomable how the "good" bald eagle nation, our "ally," could possibly do such a thing to us filipinos!

"Thing here is that the existing local call centers should now start thinking about alternative measures to keep their respective operations afloat, because, let’s face it, HB 3596 is virtually a done deal.

"I find it unwise that President Aquino is going around telling people President Obama’s endorsement of HB 3596 could be merely “election-related” because this is giving them the impression that the matter may be taken lightly, when it shouldn’t.

"This is furthest from the truth. Pinoys must get it through their thick skulls that these “ugly Americans” will stop at nothing to advance their selfish interests, even if it means trampling on all those who have the misfortune of standing in their way."

Mag beer muna tayo...

Palayasin na kasi mga dayuhan na yan. Slave drivers na nga daw kuripot pa. Laging nang gugulang.

600T unemployed will sting but not fatal, they can always enroll at TESDA to take up ..dress making. Look at the contents of these centers, its a gay pride parade during fire drill. Their talents in arts and crafts are wasted to die in some cubicle. Set them free.

The country can always align with Russia, China, Burma, Iran, Venezuela, North Korea. That should make Barry miss a free throw with their desperate measure to generate jobs in america. A mere 600T. Pathetic. While they favor the 1% in wallstreet. Mga tumbong talaga.
