Senate crosses the Rubicon

If ever pressure bears on the Senate jurors in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona, it would be on considerations that they would be key to averting a constitutional crisis as a result of Noynoy’s expressed disinclination on following decisions of the Supreme Court (SC) that do not suit him.
With the high court now is a petition from Vicente Millora, a former head of the lawyers group Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), seeking to prevent the Senate court from hearing the complaint. While the Senate is expected to follow the tribunal’s ruling on this, Noynoy, however, would not likely respect a ruling that would stop his self-imposed crusade to oust Corona whom he considers to be a tentacle of his nemesis former President Arroyo.....
