Group asks DSWD: Why focus on CCT amid disasters?
By Mario F. Fetalino Jr. 12/28/2011A watchdog on public finances heavily criticized the social welfare department’s budget giving a lion’s share to the conditional cash transfer (CCT) program in its budget despite the forecast of more killer typhoons to enter the country next year.
Marivic Raquiza, co-convenor of Social Watch Philippines which organized the Alternative Budget Initiative (ABI), said a scrutiny of Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) appro-priations for 2012 showed 80 percent of the agency’s P49.359 billion 2012 budget has been allotted for the CCT program, while all other programs including those to assist victims of cala-mities have to split the remaining 20 percent or P9.914 billion.
In particular, the budget for disaster victims of P48.043 million is less than one-tenth of one percent of the total DSWD budget, Raquiza said..... MORE

bakit nga kaya sobra sobrang pagpapahalaga ang binibigay sa CCT samantalang ang ibang mahahahalaga o mas mahahalagang bahagi ng social service ay tira.tira lang??? kasi po, pasimpleng VOTE.BUYING ang CCT. lol.
