Noynoy, through his deputy mouthpiece, recently warned the Moro Islamic Liberation Front to surrender the second highest MILF commander, Dan “Laksaw” Asnawi, a fugitive from justice, or “stand aside” while the Armed Forces of the Philippines starts its offensive in Al-Barka, Basilan, the site of the MILF’s massacre of 19 soldiers some weeks back.
Abigail Valte says it is strictly prohibited under the ceasefire agreement for the MILF to provide safe havens for fugitives.
One of the MILF leaders, vice chairman for political affairs Ghadzali Jaafar, was quoted as saying that it is the military that has not complied with existing mechanisms under a standing ceasefire agreement, which allows government troops to enter MILF territory, in response to the claim of Valte that the MILF will be violating the ceasefire agreement if the rebel group does not surrender Asnawi.....
