SYDNEY — Their views could not be further at odds, but the upcoming royal wedding has Australia’s royalists and republicans in rare and unlikely agreement — the monarchy is digging in Down under.
A former British penal colony famed for its boisterous irreverence, it is perhaps unsurprising that Australia is usually seen as the most republican of Queen Elizabeth II’s realms.
