Getting away with charges
Maybe it is a waste of time for presidential candidate Sen. Manuel “Manny” Villar to push his luck in wanting to become president of this seemingly God-forsaken land of ours. We can be candid in our opinion not because we have an accurate assessment that he will not make it, but the hard truth that even if elected, there remains a serious pending charge against him. Perhaps, Senator Villar is entertaining the notion his election as President amounts to an acquittal of the graft charge against him for realigning a segment of the C-5 Project of the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway that benefited his company’s real estate properties, for costing unnecessary expenses for constructing a longer loop, and higher cost of right-of-way for which the Senate committee of the whole (Scow) sought to censure him and demand the return of the P6.2 billion spent by the government. Neither would his election result in the dissolution of those charges. The case is only hibernating and could be revived as soon as he sits in Malacañang....
