More problems on the fiscal front EDITORIAL Click to enlarge 12/20/2009 The government, which translates to the next president who is inheriting from Gloria, would not only be grappling with dwindling tax collections and higher debt payments but the possibility of increased cost of borrowings as credit rating firms have been reportedly thinking of downgrades on the country due to the runaway deficit. The budget shortfall is expected to hit unseen levels of more than P300 billion this year and around P250 billion next year which Gloria has been attributing to the global economic slowdown and the government’s response to it that necessitates....
