Tobacco use in fish culture, paper-making to sustain farmers
03/25/2012Two new researches regarding tobacco will help the tobacco farmers sustain their livelihood even if there were an all-out campaign against cigarette smoking and would also support the call to sustain tobacco as the main cash crop of the farmers, particularly in Northern Luzon after the rice season.
These research studies pushed the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the NTA to initiate an increase in the demand of the tobacco.
The first study found that tobacco dusts were efficient snail-killing molluscicide for use in fishponds, and eventually as fertilizer for the growth of lablab or algae for nutritious food on fishes..... MORE
