Noy hit for not acting on calls for higher wage, low tuition

Kabataan Rep. Raymond \"Mong\" Palatino yesterday warned that the government\'s inaction on the demand for higher wage and to stop price and tuition hikes would further push more Filipino students to drop out of school.

According to Palatino, Transportation and the prices of basic commodities and services increased due to hikes in the prices of oil products. For the coming academic year (AY), the Commission on Higher Education said more than 300 private colleges and universities will raise tuition. To make the situation worse, the solon said President Aquino chose to ignore any move that will increase workers\' wages and salaries.

\"Currently, millions of the youth are denied of their right to education due to deepening poverty and rising education costs. As multiple blows of price hikes would add more burden to the already beleaguered family budget, the education of the youth will be left behind,\" Palatino said..... MORE
