Defense: Nothing to worry about in offered evidence

The defense panel in the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Renato Corona expressed confidence in countering the 400 or so documents that the House prosecutors presented in the formal offer of evidence as defense spokesman Karen Jimeno said there was nothing in the evidence offered that surprised the counsels for Corona.

The prosecution panel submitted to the Senate impeachment court 171 pages of documents with 242 pages of annexes gathered from 25 witnesses to support impeachment allegations against Corona.

Last Wednesday, the prosecution also rested its case with reservation to present evidence pertaining to Corona’s dollar account which is subject of a temporary restraining order (TRO) by the Supreme Court..... MORE
