Balikatan exercises involve 1.5K Filipino and US troops
01/20/2012About 1,500 Filipino and American troops will be taking part in this year’s Balikatan exercises in the West Philippine Sea, where the disputed Kalayaan Islands Group (KIGs) is situated, including joint training on gas and oil platform defense and retake in Palawan province.
Military Western Command (Westcom) chief Lt. Gen. Juancho Sabban said that this year’s Philippine-United States joint Balikatan exercises are scheduled middle of March up to early April, with 500 to 600 US Marines participating, complemented by around 1,000 Filipino troops.
