Farmers demand Aquino: Free land distribution of Hacienda Luisita now

Rafael Mariano yesterday said farmers will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the gruesome Mendiola Massacre in a protest action near Malacaang today, Friday, to remind President Aquino that his familys refusal to distribute Hacienda Luisita led to the bloody massacre of 13 farmers on Jan. 22, 1987.
Mariano will join today a protest of farmers to demand the immediate and free distribution of Hacienda Luisita and the passage of House Bill 374 or the Genuine Agrarian Reform Bill (GARB) that will overturn all pro-landlord legislations that benefited the Cojuangco-Aquinos and other landlord families in vast landholdings in the country.
Throughout and even beyond his term, President Aquino will be haunted by his familys accountability in the Mendiola and Hacienda Luista massacres and the moral need to distribute Hacienda Luisita lands..... MORE
