Prosecutors seek CJ’s leave of absence
By Benjamin B. Pulta and Gerry Baldo 12/28/2011Prosecutors are now calling on Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona to take a leave of absence following the decision of the high court to tackle the validity of the impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives.
Already, in Corona’s reply to the House, the issue of the process of verification of 188 congressmen who signed the impeachment complaint in less than two hours was questioned as verifications follow certain rules.
Four petitions challenging the validity of the impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives against the Chief Justice have been calendared in the agenda for the court’s first en banc session next year, Court Administrator Midas Marquez said yesterday ..... MORE

"The House prosecution panel also yesterday urged Corona to take a leave of absence for the duration of the impeachment trial.
"In a press conference, Marikina City Rep. Miro Quimbo, spokesman of the House prosecution panel, said going on leave would insulate the Supreme Court from being dragged or abused in the impeachment trial."
