Palace rattled, says Recto revolt warning exaggerated
By Virgilio J. Bugaoisan 09/13/2011The mere mention of unrest appears to have sent chills down the spine of the Palace, with Malacañang saying the warning of Sen. Ralph Recto of a looming middle-class revolt as a result of President Aquino’s inaction amid rising prices and higher taxes was exaggerated and the senator who happens to be an Aquino partymate and ally had blown out of proportion the present state of the nation.
Such emerging fear is ironic since Aquino’s mother, former President Cory Aquino, was swept to the presidency through a middle-class revolt in 1986 and the incumbent Aquino subscribes to people power to effect change.
Prior to the presidency, Aquino even warned that he would call for people power if he loses the 2010 elections, which Aquino said was a prospect only possible through cheating..... MORE
