DoLE chief calls on employers of clear policy over sexual harassment
07/03/2011Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz yesterday called on employers to provide clear policies against sexual harassment in their workplaces to prevent such incidence from disrupting workers’ efficiency and productivity.
Baldoz made the call following the complaint of five restaurant workers who alleged that their manager made sexual advances on them and committed unfair treatment regarding the application of leaves and work schedule.
The DoLE chief cited a report from the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB), which showed that the complainants sought the intervention of the NCMB in their complaint against a manager of the Toki Japanese Fusion and Fine Dining Restaurant in Binangonan, Rizal, who allegedly committed sexual harassment and unfair treatment against them.
“After a series of conciliation and mediation conferences, the parties agreed to measures that settled their dispute,” Baldoz said, as she reiterated the call against sexual harassment at the workplace..... MORE
