Davao Mayor Sarah Duterte’s act of punching the sheriff who was merely there to implement a court order to demolish some squatter shanties brought about a lot of reactions, especially in social media.

But before focusing on these reactions, Duterte claimed she had asked for a two-hour extension for the enforcement of a demolition order because she was attending to flood relief work and that a riot was already taking place at the demolition scene when she arrived.

Duterte said she lost her cool because she already gave clear instructions about the extension.

The point is not whether or not she came in late, or whether she had asked for an extension, the fact is that she had absolutely no right at all to punch the sheriff who was merely implementing a legal court order..... MORE
