The controversy-wracked Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG) was granted a new lease on life after Malacañang said it was unconditionally backing it up until a Manila judge’s decision saying its creation was “unconstitutional” became final.
A Palace spokesman clarified that the PASG, headed by Undersecretary Antonio Villar Jr. who is concurrently the chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), may continue with its assigned task of seizing suspected smuggled shipments at the Bureau of Customs (BoC), pending resolution of a motion for reconsideration filed by government lawyers.
