Commission on Elections (Comelec)’s reluctance to clean up the clearly padded voters’ list is one for the books, especially as its officers claim that it is only the courts that can exclude flying voters in judicial proceedings.

The deadline for the courts to come in is about two weeks from now, which means, strictly speaking, that Comelec still has that time to purge the padded voters’ list. As far back as October last year, the Comelec closed the voters’ register, even as it knew that there were double, multiple and dead voters, not to mention underaged voters. There is still time to cleanse the list, yet the Comelec is reluctant to do so. Why, when it knows damn well that this is the first and important stage of electoral fraud?... MORE
