What are we to make of the latest surveys including the one conducted by the new polling firm Campaigns and Images? There are a number of answers to that. It can be that the two leading presidentiables, Senators Noynoy Aquino and Manny Villar, have all but reached their peak and are liable to plateau or, worse, go down from hereon depending on the conduct of the local campaigns which are to officially start by March 26. In the Feb. 21 to 25 Pulse Asia survey, both Aquino and Villar’s numbers went down. Only President Erap (+6 percent) and Secretary Gibo Teodoro (+2 percent) were among the presidentiables posted gains. In the case of the SWS survey, again, Aquino and Villar’s numbers hardly moved even as they maintained their lead, with the former at 36 percent, the latter at 34 percent, while Erap and Gibo’s numbers moved up.
