Some of the most popular television series in the last century to the present involve alien themes or plots that range from the highly fictitious to the “believable,” couched in “scientific” findings. Our generation saw drama in Roswell, comedy in 3rd Rock from the Sun, adventure in Lost in Space and Star Trek, violence in Alien and Predator, and so on, but nothing quite beats Star Wars and E.T. in popularity.

After all these alien-themed shows and films, where whole industries made millions by taking a few facts and letting their imagination flow, the people of planet Earth have become convinced that aliens in outer space are either harmless and cute or intense and dangerous. Either way, everyone is sure they are highly evolved, intelligent super beings with powers far beyond our human comprehension. What these works of fiction seem to agree on, however, is that we, humans, possess something aliens have lost in their advancement — a heart, or the ability to love..... MORE
