Former President Joseph Estrada, who is again seeking the presidency, with his run cleared by the Commission on Elections, following the body’s dismisal of all three disqualification cases against him, remained unfazed by the findings of various surveys which appeared to marginalize him as a strong bet.

He said the recent surveys were biased as they failed to take the voice of masses.

In a Dasmariñas, Cavite sortie yesterday, Estrada remained unfazed over the results of the latest SWS survey placing him in third place behind Sen. Noynoy Aquino and Sen. Manuel Villar, saying you have to balance survey results with the people’s reaction on the ground.

“If we were really hitting low numbers, how can you explain the crowds of over 20,000 people who come out to greet us? Just last week when we visited Koronadal in South Cotabato there were 27,000 in the track and field oval. You can ask the people there if you want confirmation,” Estrada pointed out. Speaking to reporters during his visit here and in the towns of Silang and Bacoor, Estrada said you cannot underestimate the value of going directly to the people, as he did in 1998. “My strategy has always been to go directly to the people. Now we are going around a minimum of six to seven towns a day.”.... MORE
