That it was a big political mistake can be gleaned from the fact that the Yellow media downplayed the story, saying nothing about remarks on Noynoy’s arrogance and ignorance, and made certain that it wouldn’t be given any prominence — a tack so different from what these same media do when a story on other presidentiables, especially that of Joseph Estrada, is negatively highlighted...... Aquino, who seems to have been suddenly possessed by a people power fervor, added that if he becomes president, he would not only refuse to recognize the new CJ but would sack any associate justice who will recognize the new CJ not appointed by him..... As supplies begin to arrive, Haiti still lives in fear FEATURE 01/17/2010 PORT-AU-PRINCE — The crippled port of the Haitian capital has received its first supply ship since Tuesday’s killer earthquake — a boat carrying bananas and coal that was greeted with jubilation by desperate residents of the devastated city. A swarm of small boats surrounded the ship at the entrance to the harbor late Friday as it approached a crumbled pier with supplies from Jeremie, a Haitian town about 200 kilometers (130 miles) from Port-au-Price. Bananas will provide local residents with necessary food while coal will help boil water to avoid spread of disease. But the joyful event did little to change the overall grim situation.....
