Palace points finger to local execs for mayhem amid ‘Gener’

As tens of thousands of Filipinos battled neck-deep floods spawned by Typhoon “Gener” which surprised the weather forecasting agency with the heavy rains it brought resulting in eight dead thus far, the Palace has started to point its finger to local government heads as the ones to be blamed for the confused flow of information during the height of the rains, particularly on the suspension of classes.
President Aquino’s deputy spokesman Abigail Valte chided local government officials who she said fell short in coordinating with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in the fast tracking of the construction of immediate and long-term flood control projects, the lack of which was very evident in the submerging of most Metro Manila streets as a result of Gener’s downpours.....
