No takers for RP bananas despite China clearance

Angeles 05/25/2012While Malacaang hailed the clearance for the entry of Philippine bananas to China as a progress in the efforts to address the more stringent quarantine measures being imposed by Beijing, there were no takers for the bananas, which have rotten during the three weeks they were held in abeyance at the Chinese port of entry.
At the regular Palace press briefing, deputy presidential spokesaman Abigail Valte said the 170 containers included the 40 containers that were earlier given the green light to enter China.
