RP, US meet for top-level regional security talks
By Michaela P. del Callar and Mario J. Mallari 03/02/2012A crucial meeting between the Philippines and the United States that will determine the extent of American military presence in the country has been set for April 30 in Washington, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario said.
It is considered a vital meeting as it will extensively discuss a planned increase in US military activities in the Philippines amid territorial disputes with China in the contested South China Sea, where Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei and Chinese rival Taiwan also have overlapping claims.
