PSG bars Tribune reporter from covering Malacanang
By Fernan J. Angeles 03/02/2012In what appears to be another test of press freedom in the Aquino administration, the elite Presidential Security Group (PSG) barred a reporter of a critical newspaper from entering the Malacanang Palace for the usual coverage yesterday.
The elite presidential guards assigned to the Arias gate of the Malacaang Palace kept Fernan Angeles, the duly designated reporter of the hard-hitting the Daily Tribune from entering the Palace even after getting hold of the newsmans Press ID (issued by the Tribune) and after Angeles logged in a record book where guests and visitors alike are made to sign.
Three PSG men, including one who had a name tag that read Divino, were with two wire news photographers when Angeles was made to wait at the PSG sentry against his will..... MORE
