Subpar anti-graft post

The Ombudsman for the past few years proved to be a critical and at the same time controversial post that has almost always been plagued by suspicions of political bias and for a reason, since the term of the top anti-graft executive of seven years as fixed by the Constitution is being exploited by administrations leaving a six-year term.
The intent of the guaranteed term of the Ombudsman was to free the post from political influence because of the longer tenure compared with the president.
The highly politicized nature of most administrations voted into power, however, sees the Ombudsman as a guarantee, particularly after the assumption of a rival political power..... MORE
