Noynoy will be a no-show
Pity, we will miss leading presidentiable Sen. Noynoy Aquino at the foreign policy forum organized by the Carlos P. Romulo Foundation at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) on Thursday, Jan. 14. Co-hosted by the AIM and the ABS-CBN News Channel, the forum will focus on our international relations and competitveness. That will really be a pity, especially since with our ubiquitous presence in the world (we have 8.5 million Filipinos spread over 110 countries in all continents at the latest count) our credibility and standing will definitely impact on the rights and welfare of our compatriots overseas. The President, whoever he will be by May 2010 certainly has an obligation to these kababayans to ensure that they get their just due and eventually continue contributing their share in our country’s development as they are now doing. Equally important, in this age of globalization and, yes, terrorism and transnational criminal activities, the policies and actions of our national leadership, especially the president will surely go a long way in establishing our credentials, so to speak, in the family of nations. ....
