First storm ‘Ambo’ hits RP; hundreds stranded; 1 hurt in landslide; 30 fishermen rescued by PCG
06/03/2012The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it is ready to respond to bad weather conditions and uphold public safety as the first storm for 2012 hit the country the other day, sending 30 fishermen off their course, and causing landslides while stranding hundreds of travellers in various parts of the archipelago.
PCG commandant Admiral Edmund Tan, speaking after inspecting a PCG quick response unit team in Manila yesterday, said the PCG is prepared to deal with the situation and answer to the needs of the people.
