DoST makes paper bags from tree fibers to replace banned plastics
06/12/2012The Department of Science and Technology (DoST) has been developing technologies for paper production out of abaca pulp and other tree fibers to fill the growing demand for packaging paper following the ban on plastic wrappers by local government units.
Tomas Brias, DoST regional director for Bicol based in Legazpi City, said on Thursday the agencys Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI) through its Technology Innovation Division has completed studies on alternative raw materials for paper manufacturing..... MORE
