Bulacan groups ink pact with landfill developer

The multisectoral campaign in Bulacan to save its rivers, particularly the Marilao, Meycauayan and Obando rivers, received a big boost recently with the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the provincial government of Bulacan, local government units, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, with Ecoshield Development Corp., indicating that the river cleanup will be sustained.

Local government officials of Bulacan, led by Gov.Wilhelmino Sy Alvarado, and municipal officials particularly Obando town Mayor Orencio Gabriel, have praiseworthy motives for supporting the engineered sanitary landfill.
