Pinoys repatriated as Ivory Coast
04/08/2011The Philippine government is on alert for possible outbreak of hostilities in Ivory Coast where 10 Filipinos have already asked to be repatriated.
In a report to the Depart-ment of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria said it is sending a two-man consular team to the beleaguered African state to conduct a ground assessment and
provide assistance to Filipinos.
The embassy in Abuja has jurisdiction over Ivory Coast.
There are some 100 Filipinos in Ivory Coast, mostly professional and skilled workers, as well as permanent residents. Six Armed Forces of the Philippines officers are also assigned in the UN Operation in the country..... MORE
