My goodness
Talk remains rife about Joseph Estrada backing out of the presidential race 70 days before elections, and this is an indication of how well Manny Villar’s PR men are paid. They not only continuously spread rumors about their wannabes’ “enemies,” they make sure their manufactured chismis stays in the ambit of public consciousness. By PR men I don’t just mean those directly employed by the Villar camp, but the coterie of media professionals benefiting from his largess. You know what I mean, you know whom I refer to, dahil obvious, the way they churn out tall tales to prop up their hero under the guise of political opinion. As TV anchors, it’s become easy to identify them, for the sudden prideful flare of their nostrils when introducing a news bit that’s pro-Villar give them away. As op-ed writers, easier so. The written word is no longer just hard copy that you can forget when no longer before you, it’s become soft copy accessible 24/7 on the Internet for scrutiny and analysis, mabubuko ang dapat mabuko. The scenario has Erap running the course until a month prior to the polls, and then he quits, makes a deal with whoever is leading in the surveys, to play the role of kingmaker in exchange for a few “lucrative” whatever.
