LP hosts many Arroyo Cabinet outcast — NP

Whatever promises members of the Liberal Party (LP) are making to improve the lives of Filipinos should be taken with a grain of salt as many of them held key Cabinet positions in the Arroyo administration that they are now criticizing as cause of worsening poverty and hunger and millions of children failing to finish school.

“At one point, the Liberals lorded it over the Anti-Poverty and Economic Clusters of the GMA Cabinet, with billions of pesos at their disposal. Whatever economic crisis and crippling poverty situation we have right now, the Liberals are to blame. They played with the people’s billions, nothing happened,” Nacionalista Party (NP) spokesman Gilbert Remulla said.

LP members or the party’s major supporters who held Cabinet positions include Ralph Recto (National Economic Development Authority), Florencio Abad (Department of Education), Corazon Soliman (Department of Social Welfare and Development), Mar Roxas (Department of Trade and Industry), Teresita Quintos
