Heart disease: No. 1 cause of death among Filipinos

Studies have shown that heart disease has been the leading cause of death in the country for the last ten years according to a data from the National Statistics Office (NSO). The NSO said almost 300 Filipinos die of heart disease every day based on a 2009 study. This number of deaths from heart ailments represents a high 21 percent of the total annual registered deaths in the country. “What makes it heartbreaking is the fact that the prevalence rate is on the rise,” said the National Statistics Coordination Board (NSCB) in a statement.....
