‘TRIAL HAD TAKEN ITS TOLL ON SENATE’

Pulta 04/20/2012The impeachment trial had taken its toll on the senators acting as judges in the court trying Chief Justice Renato Corona and the Senate now is bent on concluding the trial before Congress goes on sine die adjournment on June 8, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero said yesterday, admitting that a number of colleagues, himself included, are no longer keen on prolonging the proceedings.
“It has taken its toll on the Senate and even on the senators themselves. I think we have allotted enough time to hear the case and continue starting May 7 (when Congress resumes regular sessions), until we adjourn, to hear anew the defense (panel) and the prosecution on their rebuttal and rebuttal of the defense if they will choose to present additional evidence,” he said, appearing at the Senate’s weekly news forum.....
